Indian D2C brands cross the 'do-it-yourself' fulfilment ceiling somewhere around 1,500 orders a month. Past that, founders lose more hours fighting courier escalations than building product. Order-cut-off to dispatch: same-day for orders placed before 2 pm, next-day for the rest. Pick accuracy: 99.7% or higher. Inventory accuracy at cycle count: 99.5%. Inbound put-away: under 24 hours from dock to bin.

Marketplace SLAs are stricter — Amazon Easy-Ship demands sub-2-hour pick-pack windows, Flipkart Smart-Fulfil expects 99.9% on-time dispatch. Ask the 3PL for last-quarter SLA compliance, not glossy averages.

Tech stack non-negotiables

A modern 3PL must offer: direct API integration with Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra and Nykaa; a self-serve dashboard for live inventory, order, and SLA visibility; and webhook events for downstream BI tools. If you cannot see a live order status without emailing your account manager, the 3PL is not modern enough for D2C.
